You can delete MOST of the CONTENTS of the folder, but not the folder itself. Be sure not to delete the file named user_prefs for sure. The rest of the files within the folder you may deleted.

You'll make spam assassin somewhat less efficient but you'll gain some space temporarily. Spam assassin will, over time, build it's database up again.
